Hi everyone,

we are looking for help on setting up an OpenVPN server on our RUT955 (FW 7.02.7).

In general, setting up the OpenVPN server with the GUI or via a .conf file does work pretty well and the server can be reached by the clients as long as the clients are inside the LAN subnet.

However, the server cannot be reached from the outside by using its IPv6 (mobile network telekom).

Hope someone can support us here - thanks a lot already for your feedback!

Best,

Daniel

Hello,

Are you able to reach the server via IPv4?

Also, by "reached from the outside by using its IPv6", do you mean VPN clients from different subnets or simply other devices?

The things to check would be if VPN traffic rule in Network -> Firewall -> Traffic rules has address family option to IPv4 and IPv6 set:

Also, if your VPN configuration file includes option proto tcp6(or proto udp6), as currently, only IPv4 TCP/UDP options can be configured to be used inside the tunnels from RUT955 WebUI. Configurable transmission protocol IPv6 options are available in RUTX series devices and should be included to RUT955 from 7.3 firmware release.

Best regards,
