I am trying to restore a backup configuration file I downloaded using the web interface. I followed the instructions for creating and downloading the backup file at https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT240_Backup. I extracted the downloaded configuration file and added the backup_packages folder with only one package ( TCP dump) that I downloaded from https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT240_Package_Downloads for Firmware RUT2_R_00.07.02.7 which is the same firmware as my device. Then I compressed back the folder into a tar.gz format and attempted to restore the configuration file that includes the backup_packages in the etc folder. I got the error:

The selected backup file is not compatible with this device, please choose another file.

The reason that I am adding the backup_packages folder is that I would like to restore the exact configuration along with the packages in one shot

Any clue what I did wrong?

Thank you very much in advance!

Hello,

Could you try modifying the archive without extracting it, using, for example 7-zip?

Another thing to keep in mind is that in order for the packages to install, after backup upload, they have to be extracted and files with *.ipk extensions only need to be copied to backup_packages directory.

Best regards,

Thanks @ . I was able to modify the archive without extracting it in Linux GUI and I added only the *.ipk files to the backup_packages. It is working fine now.

Thank you!
