Hi community, Hi Teltonika team,

the secondary modem (MOB2S1A1) on our RUTX12 stopped working completely. The primary modem was not stable at all with firmware versions above v7.0.0, but at least this problem was apparently fixed now with FW v7.0.3. But the secondary modem does not show up in interfaces, neither in /dev. There, only ttyMSM0, ttyS0, ttyS1, ttyUSB0, ttyUSB1, ttyUSB2 and ttyUSB3 are visible. To our knowledge, ttyUSB4 - 7 would need to be present for the secondary modem? dmesg shows log lines like this:

... making us think that there's a problem with the secondary modem on hardware level.

We have been able to update the primary modem firmware to EG06ELAR04A08M4G, which is only called "internal modem" since the secondary modem has vanished. But trying the same for the (not present) modem at ID 1-1.2 was not successful, only the primary modem (modem_n :0) can be found with "modem_updater -g".

Our supplier (Reichelt Elektronik in Germany) states that since we bought the unit as a business on August 13th 2021, the 1-year warranty has already expired and they are not responsible. A support ticket should have been opened for us by Teltonika Finland support, but we never heard of them since. Of course we can't accept a broken device that we paid € 455,90 for and we won't spend another ~ € 410 (current price) after only < 1,5 years. We need a stable / reliable mobile broadband solution to offer to our customers and we kindly ask for help - for an RMA or at least a paid repair. Thanks in advance!

Adding details on modem 2 LED behaviour:

  • with FW v7.0.0 up to v7.0.2 the signal strengh LEDs have been continiously blinking
  • with FW v7.0.3 now the 3G / 4G LEDs are continiously blinking, no change in availability of secondary modem though

Could you send me a serial number of your device?

It would help to track Teltonika sales manager and try to arrange RMA.
