First let me say I am not a network specialist; my boss bought this device as a failover for his cable internet provider and I can't seem to get is to work.  The device will be placed between the cable modem and a netgear orbi in either bridge or passthrough mode.  The desired outcome would be that when his IPS connection fails the RUT240 will switch over to mobile data and when the IPS comes back online it will switch back. I went through the initial setup of the RUT24 and assigned the device a static IP of 192.168.1.3.  I then turned off the WIFI on the RUT240 because it is not needed. Under the interface tab LAN is 1, WAN is 2, mobile is 3 and wan6 is four.  The only thing I changed was under mobile settings and I changed it from NAT to passthrough.  I then went to the failover/load balancing interface and turned on the WAN and MOBILE failovers, WAN is set as 1 and mobile set as 2, I left all configurations the same except for flush connections which I set to connected for both WAN and mobile.

I can’t get it to work and I assuming I am not understanding the wiki on how to do this.  Could someone please explain it to me in layman’s terms.

I have set the RUT240 back to factory default.

Thank you

Hi,

When configuring the mobile interface in bridge or passthrough mode, most of the RUT240 functionalities become unavailable, including failover.  You might be able to configure wired WAN as MAIN, then mobile in the bridge as second. The device should failover to mobile if the wired WAN becomes unavailable, however, the device will stay in mobile bridge mode until you set a static IP address on the PC connected to RUT240 to reach the WebUI and disable bridge mode.

Could you perhaps use NAT mode? This way you will be able to use failover.

Kind Regards,

Andzej
