Hi,

i had the following setup:

RUT router A with a laptop A in location A

RUT router B with a laptop B in location B

I will have an application in laptop A to send data via MQTT to laptop B, however i need router B to have a static IP.

I'm thinking to setup router B as a VPN server to have a static IP. Anyone can advise me how to do that?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Most VPN services require at least one of the devices to have a public IP address.

In your case, I would recommend checking out ZeroTier, as it:

  • Does not require a public IP on either end of the tunnel;
  • Is easy to setup;
  • Can have up to 25 nodes without a need to pay for the service;
  • Is easily expandable;
We have a ZeroTier configuration available on our Wiki here.

Let me know if any additional information is needed!

Best regards,
