Hello,

I have connected a PLC via LAN to TRB140, mobile interface set to passthrough.

It gives the PLC a dynamic IP address but it disconnects the data all the time, I tried different setups, 4G only, 3G+4G etc, nothing helps.

The troubleshooting file attached. Previously I was using Alcatel HH40 modem without a problem.

Thank you in advance

Hello,

It seems like the issue is with the Ethernet link, rather than the mobile interface.

I would like you to log into the device using SSH, and run this command:

ethtool -s eth0 duplex half speed 100 autoneg off

If the device exhibits the same behavior, this command can be reversed by running this command:

ethtool -s eth0 duplex fill speed 1000 autoneg on

Awaiting your response!

I did as you said. It seems that it has no effect, it behaves still the same. Troubleshooting file attached again here: https://community.teltonika-networks.com/?qa=blob&qa_blobid=17671087349791663879

Could you try connecting the TRB to any other Ethernet device to check if the behavior continues?

Perhaps a different cable could also be tried?

I tried a different PLC unit and a different cable, still the same. Then I reset TBR and it worked for a while.

Do you see something from this event log? Is it ok that it keeps changing the port speed all the time?

Another thing is that the orange status LED blinks when I connect my PLC even though TRB assigns the IP address to the PLC so there must be some communication. When I connect my PC, it blinks green.

My PLC should communicate over the port 8080 or 8443, is it OK for TRB right?

I changed the firmware to 7.04.01...

Hi, any other idea?

Hi,

The communication over ports 8080 and 8443 should not be the problem. The logs show that the physical link often goes down. The link speeds also change. This is a bit odd, since you are able to connect it to your PC and it works fine and the green LEDs are lit. Any chance you could test TRB with other devices to see if everything works properly with them?

May as well try different settings for full/half duplex, speeds 10/100/100 and auto-negotiation:

ethtool -s eth0 duplex full speed 100 autoneg off

Can always go back with:

ethtool -s eth0 duplex full speed 1000 autoneg on

Kind Regards,

Andzej

Hi,

I was able to connect it finally. TRB is also online in RMS.  What I did?

- TRB: upgrade FW to the latest version

- PLC: I set a fixed IP address for my PLC instead of DHCP

- TRB LAN settings: Changed the IP address of TRB, set DHCP (probably not needed)

- TRB Mobile settings: unchanged, NAT

- My PLC was missing a DNS server, I used 8.8.4.4 and 8.8.8.8, although when I set the PLC for DHCP, it received DNS from TRB but it did not work.

Hi,

That's great news. Thanks for letting us know how you solved it.

Though I thought you were using TRB in bridge/passthrough mode as you mentioned in your first post so that I did not even check that. But it seems you are not actually in bridge mode since you have NAT enabled? Anyways. Glad it was resolved with a static IP.

Have a nice day!

Kind Regards,

I used passthrough mode first, but then I did a factory reset and tried it with the default mobile settings

When I use passthrough and disable DHCP in the mobile interface, I was able to connect but only accidentally and for a very short time.

Thank you for your replies

I am moving the product with TRB to United Kingdom next week, so hopefully it will work on roaming as well ( Deny roaming data is disabled)
