Hello Helpdesk Team,

after my three year old RUT955 showed a "CME Error: memory failure" and therefore "failed to resolve hostname", I performed a reset. Now the login page appears on start-up (the unit now appears as "UNKNOW"), but it only responds to the initial entries (admin/admin01) with a continuous loop. If I make a wrong entry, I promptly get an error message. The WLAN is established properly and it makes no difference whether I connect to the unit via Ethernet cable or via WLAN.

Unfortunately, I did not find this problem in the FAQs, so I am now asking you: do you have any idea what I could do about it? If you need more information from me to answer this, please let me know.

With thanks for a brief reply and best regards

N. Mink

Hello,

Could you please connect to your device via SSH using "root" as the login and the password as your router's password? Once you're logged in, please execute the following command:

  • hexdump -C /dev/mtd1

Send me the output of this command via private message.

Kind Regards,

Andzej

Hello Andzey,

thank you for your answer to my question and the proposed solution to the problem!

The ssh request showed the following result:

C:\Users\norbe>ssh root@192.168.1.1

root@192.168.1.1's password:

BusyBox v1.34.1 (2021-08-31 22:20:08 UTC) built-in shell (ash)
