Question

Goodmorning,

I saw the following post about the bootloader update for the RUT240 not being freely available for download online:

I want to update the router but can't because the newest firmware isn't accepted. It says that the bootloader has to be updated (now. V1.00). The person responding in the above post (VykintasKuzma) hasn't yet responded and has been offline for about 9 months, is there someone else that can provide me with the bootloader update?

The bootloader with version v1 cannot be updated to the latest version, as it will most likely brick the device. I would recommend either staying on the latest legacy version RUT2XX_R_00.01.14.6_WEBUI or upgrading the device. A good replacement could be RUT241 or RUT200, as they offer twice the amount of flash memory and a faster Mediatek chipset.

Thank you for your response. Okay, then we'll try to update to the latest legacy version. If that doesn't work, we'll replace the device. Overall we have already begun updating to RUT955 due to more functionalities.

Great to hear that! Generally, even if the device works well, it should be kept in mind that the firmware is outdated, and security updates are not being released for it, so it should not operate in environments with sensitive data.
