Hello,

In order to check my email configuration I try to send an email each time the config is modified by using :

status > event logs > events reporting

I press the send button and have a red message "Mail sent failed"

I start in parallel a cli terminal and execute logread -f

No message are displayed about my error. Also in Event logs.

Where is it ?

Hello,

Try following this guide: https://wiki.teltonika.lt/view/Sending_emails_via_command_line

You will see a bit more information by sending emails via Command Line which will help you debug your email issues.

Please note: a lot of email service providers will block sign-in attempts from programs like sendmail. To get around this, enable Access for less secure apps on your email account. Doing this will be different for different services. We suggest that you use an Internet search engine for information on how to enable Access for less secure apps on your email. In any case, it should be as simple as flipping an ON/OFF switch.

Hello,

I followed the guide and configured according to it.

With or without the option "less secure" I have the red message !!

Are the sendmail messages logged or not ?

Everything that is logged, is logged in the logread command.

Did you try any other email service? For example www.gmx.com? It has less security measures which simplifies configuration.

Also, could you share your router's email settings? Of course, redact any sensitive information.

I see you created another topic regarding this issue: https://community.teltonika-networks.com/9040/check-email-sending-from-rut955

Did you manage to make it work?

I found the problem:

In the field smtp server I wrote smtp.gmail.com and the email wasn't sent

If I write the IP address (74.125.206.108) then the email is sent.

Probably a DNS problem in my RUT955 ...

I confirm my remark.

Configuration:

Network > Wan > mobile : press Edit button

disable "use DNS advertised"

define custom DNS (8.8.8.8 for example)

and now I can use hostname in the field "smtp server"

That means that some mobile providers don't have dns or don't give the service.
