After upgrading RUT240 device with current latest firmware (RUT2_R_00.07.01.2) I can't see any packages in package manager. Also ZeroTier package stopped working, in package manager it's stuck in "In queue" state. I've enabled Advanced configuration mode but it doesn't change the behaviour.

Hello,

Just to confirm - do you have internet connection on your device, including properly configured DNS servers on the WAN interface? Any issues related to package manager usually occur due to no internet connection or access to DNS servers.

Instructions on how to login to the router via CLI (SSH/Telnet) can be found on our wiki here: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT240_CLI and here: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/Command_Line_Interfaces#SSH

To confirm whether you have internet connection, you may try to login to the router via CLI (SSH/Telnet) and issue the following commands (interrupt the ping sequence by hitting the CTRL+C buttons on keyboard):

ping 1.1.1.1

ping google.com

If both of these confirm that there's internet connectivity and the domain names are being resolved (DNS works), another method to potentially resolve the issue would be to issue this command via CLI manually:

opkg update

After issuing this command the router should update its list of available packages. Once that's done, re-check if the package manager has changed.

If that doesn't help, by far the best and fastest course of actions would be to reset router to default settings and see if that helps.

Best regards,

Tomas.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer. I do have an internet connection, I did the upgrade on a working installation. In this case, RUT240 is configured as WiFi client and I can confirm that DNS requests are being resolved properly.

I was able to install and configure the package via SSH using `opkg install` and I also tried to update the packages using opkg update but the web GUI still displays empty list for packages. One thing to mention is that opkg update fails on one of the package repositories:

Downloading https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/21.02.0/packages/mips_24kc/vuci/Packages.gz

*** Failed to download the package list from https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/21.02.0/packages/mips_24kc/vuci/Packages.gz

I'm about to upgrade another router soon but since it's in a remote location, I'd like to be sure that the upgrade works as intended. One thing I forgot to mention is that I needed to hard reboot the router after FW upgrade as it wasn't responding to anything. Then, after about three hours, the router went completely offline again. After those hiccups the router has been running fine for several days now.

In regards to upgrading firmware on a physically unreachable device - we do not recommend it. If it is functioning properly at the moment then it's recommended to leave the firmware as-is until the device can be accessed physically, in case something goes wrong during the upgrade. It seems like in your case something did, in fact, go wrong during the upgrade.

Also, generally speaking, while this may require some extra time, I'd recommend to upgrade any router from legacy firmware (old WebUI) to the RutOS (v7, new WebUI) firmware without keeping settings since there have been many changes in regards to certain router functionalities.

Best regards,

Tomas.

Had the same problem exactly as described.

Factory reset after the firmware update cleared the issue.  Package list now fully populated.

Make sure you copy your wi-fi security details to allow a seamless transition for your existing clients.

Alternatively, you could try generating a settings backup and reuploading.

Hope that helps and best regards.
