Question

RUT955 responds with a reboot after receiving reboot command but does not send Status SMS after reboot.
Asking for Status via SMS works fine.
I expected to receive a Status SMS after the reboot.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Hello,

Please try to delete SMS rule and try to create a new one with the same settings. If that does not help, configure "allowed users" and add your phone number(s). In case that doesn't work either try to add "Send status SMS to other number" and write your number(s). If none of this helped I would highly recommend restoring the router to factory settings, I tried to replicate the issue you are having and I was unsuccessful in doing that.

Your first suggestion worked, deleting the default Reboot rule and adding it again with same settings.
Since it was a default rule I did not expect this.
