I have been running comparisons between the speeds received on an iphone X and the RUTX09 and find i am receiving approximately half the 4G speed on download on the RUTX09 that i get on the iphone. I have trawled through all of the settings for comparison and found that the signal strength on both devices is the same and both are using band 20. I also thought it may be due to a difference in the APN settings as on auto it took the standard O2 settings o2web.co.uk while the iphone uses idata.o2.co.uk so i tried manually setting the APN to match the iphone which did allow network access but had no effect on the speed. The one thing i did notice in the mobile network status is that carrier aggregation shows as single and i thought due to automatic carrier aggregation this should indicate differently.

Interestingly i have also tried testing the router with a different 4G operator and i am finding exactly the same results. I am getting a different speed between operators but that is expected and they are connected to different cells but the same behavior in that i get half the download speed on the RUTX09 that i do with the same test on an iphone X.

Hello,

iPhone X supports LTE-A, while router's module uses LTE Cat 6, thus it is expected that iPhone will show better speed results.

Please check this video as it might help you to improve the current results: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAkjQ6a2qdc

The RUTX09 according to the documentation is the next generation LTE-A Cat 6 type already and should support speeds of up to 300mbps. I am currently seeing speeds of maximum 35mbps (i think that is the maximum speed for my area anyway) on the iphone X but with the RUTX09 only 10-15mbps. The router should be capable of matching the speed on a slower network. Selecting specific bands also is not much help as 4G is only on band 20 on all masts that i can reach in this area.

I recently purchased an RUTX09 expecting it to out-perform an asus lte router (4g ac68u) which has a cat6 modem and I found the same, roughly half or less the speed of the asus in download went from 165meg in download to roughly 60meg upload is not far off went from 45 to around 30

Hello,

I would highly recommend you to update your device to that latest available FW version and then set your mobile connectivity bands manually. You can find more information here:
