When using dhcp and dns resolution in the RUTX11 to resolve .lan addresses, resolution sometimes fails when the router has an internet connection (via the 4G or wan port) and the device to be resolved is connected to the router shortly after the router is powered up. Resolution of this .lan address will then continue to fail until the device is disconnected from the router and then connected again.

This has been seen this with firmware version RUTX_R_00.01.04.5 and RUTX_R_00.02.01.1.
Has anyone seen a similar issue or know how to resolve it?

Hi,

If it's only .lan addresses, then it's probably due to DNS rebind protection. You can disable it by logging into the router via SSH/CLI and executing these commands:

  • uci set dhcp.@dnsmasq[0].rebind_protection='0'
  • uci commit
  • /etc/init.d/dnsmasq restart
Tell me if it helps. If it doesn't, could you then send me a Troubleshoot file via private message? It can be downloaded from the router's WebUI, System → Administration → Troubleshoot page.
