RUT900 - retrofit of digital input / output possible?

I'm planning to buy a second hand RUT900. The older version of the RUT900 doesn't have the 4pin socket with the digital input and output. Is it possible to retrofit them?

I'm thinking of: soldering cabels on the board and editing the firmware.

PCB and tracing definitely will be different if you do that, I highly doubt if it'll work. I think many more changes would be needed
