Hi, We just got a RUTX09 and this unit is solely going to be used for redundancy and failover for live video streaming and video calls

We have WAN as local wired ISP and SIM 1 as 4G backup

I have tied and unplugged the WAN port while streaming and the process take at least 20 seconds to switch from WAN to 4G back-up.

Is there a way for this to be sped up?

Also when on 4G backup and ISP on wan works again can we speed up the connection going back to WAN?

Thanks

Dylan

Hello,

Could you try configuring the Failover rule? You can do it on Advanced mode then Network > Failover tab.

Wired Failover Rule
Mobile Failover Rule

For more information you can visit this link:

I'm afraid this did'nt work. What are the typical times for failover? As in main WAN drops and until 4G is active

Thanks

Hello,

Mostly it usually takes 10-15 secs until the connect goes back up. You can try playing around with the number of pings.

Thanks for that Jerome,

I'm afraid 10/15 seconds is too long for live video production.

Is there anyway that I can use a VPN service along with this router and two ISPs to have a seamless drop and reconnect?

Any ideas would help

Many thanks
