Is it normal for a stationary RUT955 running in a LTE network with good coverage and signal quality to change cell four times in less than one minute? Is there something that can be done do lock the router down to a limited number of cells?

Hello,

The reason for fast cell switching could be that you are in the middle of few cells and the router cannot decide which cell to pick. There is a good guide written on how to lock cells: https://community.teltonika-networks.com/4431/how-can-i-lock-a-cell?show=4431#q4431

Will fast cell switching affect connectivity? Cell locking seems possible from the link above but a bit risky on a distant location. Could LTE band limiting make it more stable?

Hello,

Have you noticed any connectivity issues while monitoring cell switching? Right now I cannot tell you if it will affect your connection because it is a very unusual behavior and hard to reproduce. You could try to force certain LTE bands and check if it affects cell switching. You can do it by navigating WebUI > Network > Mobile

Regards.

We noticed connectivity issues at the site. We had short disturbances where packets where lost for 10-20 secs every now and then, sometimes every ten minutes, sometimes a few hours in between. Yesterday evening we did some maintenance at the site where we disconnected and reconnected all five antenna cables on the RUT955. After that the modem has been stable on the same cell for 12 hours. Maybe there was some physical disturbance on one of the antenna connectors?. But as far as the maintenace guy could tell no visible indications.

If right now your device is stable, there were probably issues with antennas. Maybe it was not connected correctly. Check your signal values, if they are low it is natural that the device tries to jump to another cell for better signal value.
