Hello, I would like to buy a second hand RUT955. How can I clean the whole system (not just reset and installing the newest firmware and bootloader) to be sure that no harmful code is hidden somewhere for example in the RUTos? Thanks for answering! Leon

Hi,

You can reset router to factory settings. To perform this, hold router reset button for 5 seconds, all mobile signals LED has to light up. Other way is to install router firmware via bootloader (https://wiki.teltonika.lt/view/RUT9xx_Firmware_via_The_Bootloader_Menu), during this procedure router first erases it's memory and then writes new firmware.

Hi, thank you for answering! I already tried this method with another RUT955. But for example the log files of the openWRT were not deleted. So I guess that parts of the rutOS or even the whole OS doesn't change during the installation of bootloader and firmware. Do you have any idea how to really delete the device? (Even the BIOS which initializes the boot loader could be infected somehow... ;-) )
