Hello!

I have a problem with reaching connection to my Router RUT950 over VPN. In particular the status of openvpn is disconnected.

The problem started after the uptdate of the firmware from 00.03.832 to 00.06.07.05

Thank you in advance

Hi,

Did you upgrade your firmware without saving previous settings? As you're coming from the firmware that low you must reset or update without keeping settings as there could be some configuration mismatches.

Also, please check if the settings you had didn't change in WebUI, it could be that some fields are gone and some of them could look new to you.

Dear Sir/madam

Thank you for your prompt reply. Actually the new firmware was already install in the modem. The modem with the old version of firmware is RUT950 HG12H0 while the modem with the new version of firmware is RUT950U025A0. I have also checked the WEBUI setting and the look the same!

Thank you in advance

Could you upload a screenshot of your OpenVPN settings then?

You said you're trying to reach your RUT950 over VPN, so does that mean you want it to run as a server? Because now I see that you've created an OpenVPN client interface, so if it's a client - where does it connect then?

I need more explanation about the topology here.

Thank you for your response. Can please be more precise about what information you need..
In the meanwhile I include a screenshot of the topology here .
Kind regards

I will need a topology where you show what are you trying to do, what is the network logic behind it, where's the server and where's the client of OpenVPN, as many details as possible would be appreciated.

Cause right now you're saying that you're trying to connect to your RUT950 router through OpenVPN, but you're showing me the configuration of the OpenVPN client in the same RUT950? In that case, I need to know from where are you trying to reach it, do you have an OpenVPN server set-up?

Yes this is true . We have already setup an OpenVPN server in a different PC and we run the OpenVPN client in this router (RUT950) in order to connect both of them. This configuration was working the modem RUT950 HG12H0 but not with the modem RUT950U025A0.

If the configuration is the same, different product modem shouldn't do big difference in this situation. Could you paste the output of the OpenVPN server? It should say what client is missing for connection.

Actually this is the problem. our OpenVPN server cannot reach the client that is created in  the new router.

The log file does not show any coonection with this client

I believe you've filled Remote Host/IP address and you didn't show it because you tried to hide it?

I know it's a stupid question, but if it's not even trying to connect - that would be the reason, no IP filled in.

Well, as you've created a client interface for your VPN - it must have a destination IP where is it going to connect. So you must fill remote host/IP address with the IP of the OpenVPN server.

I have added the host/IP Address
