Hi

I have a router RUT240 and I want to configure it as VPN server, to be able to connect from outside.

The router is on 4G SIM card, with a public IP (static). I've followed this configuration example:

https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT240_L2TP_over_IPsec_(Windows_10)

but is not working. I can't connect from my windows to the router through VPN.

Firmware is latest one, just checked.

Error on windows is: The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer encountered a processing error during initial negotiations with the remote computer.

Do I need to do something else? Did I missed anything?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Gabriel.

Hi,

Have you tried to look for solutions online for this?

There's an obvious one where you have to enable ms-chap v2 in your windows machine, we don't have a guide for that in our wiki, but I'll drop you a link to other instructions:

https://appuals.com/how-to-fix-the-l2tp-connection-attempt-failed-because-the-security-layer-encountered-a-processing-error/

Also, it could be that's the firewall problem that you're facing, so you might try disabling the firewall on your windows machine too and see if then it establishes the connection.
