Hello,

One of our clients is experiencing failover issues.

Only the default sim works, the router is not able to get a signal after a failover from the default sim.

The router is up to date and there is no problem with the sims.

Thanks in advance,

Roy

Hello Roy L,

Thank you for your query.

I would like you to elaborate a little bit on the issue your customer is experiencing:

1) Only the default sim works, the router is not able to get a signal after a failover from the default sim. Did your customer meant sim switching? From what I understood failover occurs(sim switching) and it does not connect to the internet with the 2nd sim Card? Or it does not work after switching back from the 2nd SIM to the 1st SIM(default SIM).

In general there are a few troubleshooting steps:

1) Ensure that Both mobile antennas are connected and the signal is good. Here is an article regarding mobile signal strength recommendations:

https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/Mobile_Signal_Strength_Recommendations

2) Ensure that both Sim cards works on the router independently. To test this, put Sim card 1 in the first SIM tray(SIM1). The 2nd Sim tray(SIM2) leave empty and check if the router connects to the internet in both scenarios.

More information on Sim switch(failover) : https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUTX09_Mobile#SIM_Switch

More information on failover(this is useful if you are testing failover for example from Mobile to WAN or wireless): https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUTX09_Failover

If after the steps provided failover still does not work, please Could you execute it, wait a few minutes 10-15 and download the troubleshoot file from the router. To do so, please navigate to System -> Administration -> Troubleshoot and download the troubleshoot file. Please forward it to me via private message.(Make sure that you do not reboot the device after failover as this would delete all of the logs)

Hello Roy L,

In general, I would say ideally it would be up to a minute.(However it may take longer depending on the circumstances)

Regarding our available products, we currently have RUTX12 available, it has two modems(modules), it allows faster sim switching. The reason why it is more effective is that it has another modem ready for sim switch rather than changing configuration on that single modem. It is even called "instant failover switching".

More information on RUTX12 Could be found here: https://teltonika-networks.com/product/rutx12/
