First up, forgive me: I am not an IT specialist.

I have an RUT240 going into a Ubiquiti Unifi Switch, and then to 3 Ubiquiti Unifi APs. But my connection keeps dropping out with DNS errors multiple times per hour (and nothing in the RUT240 logs about connection issues) so I suspect my setup is wrong.

Should the mode on the RUT240 be NAT, bridge, or passthrough?
Do I need any special settings in my Ubiquiti setup?

Thanks in advance for your patience!

Hello,

From what I understood you want to give internet connectivity to your Ubiquiti Unifi Switch where there are 3 Ubiquiti Unifi APs connected to the switch. In this case, I would like to know if this Ubiquiti Unifi Switch is a managed switch (it assigns an IP address to the connected device). Next, is how is these Unifi AP's connected, is it going to give the same LAN Network as what is the switch is giving?

Here are some scenario's using NAT:

- If each device is having its LAN network you need to configure it like this:

- If you the Unifi AP is just acting as an extender and the Ubiquiti Switch is acting like a Managed Switch.

If you use Bridge Mode or Passthrough mode and Unifi is AP is just an extender it would be like this:

All the suggested Topologies are based on what I understood from the scenario you want to implement.

Kindly correct me if I am wrong.

I hope that helps.

Regards,
Jerome

The topology looks like this:

Internet (LTE) - RUTX09 [192.168.2.1 LAN] - Unifi USG [192.168.1.1] - Unifi managed switch [192.168.1.6] - Unifi AP [192.168.1.7]
