Hello,

I would like to implement a wireless telemetry system using 4G LTE coverage and MQTT protocol. Our race car will be equiped with a 4G antenna and a standard SIM card (with a shared IP address). We plan to use the 4G router RUT950 to host the MQTT broker on the side of the track. Therefore, the broker and the client (the car) will not work on the same local network. Therefore, we are wondering if we need to buy a SIM card with a fixed public IP address.

Could you confirm it or not?

Thank you,

Kind regards,

Julien

Hi Julien,

Regarding your question, if you want to access the device from the outside you will be needed to have a Public IP address.

For more information you can refer to this link: Private and Public IP Addresses - Teltonika Networks Wiki (teltonika-networks.com)

I hope this one helps
