RUT950 SIM Switching - SIM Management >SIM Swicthing > Enable automatic switching is selected
Hello. Having a problem testing/proving the Automatic SIM switching functionality and I'd be grateful for advice/guidance about how to check this is working.
Issue: Automatic Switching between SIM1 and SIM2 is not working after SIM1 or SIM2 has been ejected from the router to test the auto switching. The router does not reconnect to the mobile network of the remaining/second SIM with the primary SIM removed.

In SIM management both SIM1-to-SIM2 and vice versa have the 'No network' option selected (which displays a message that 'sim switch will be performed after 2 minutes).

Both SIM1 and SIM2 do connect to the respective mobile networks when working independently as the primary SIM.

I would be interested to know if auto SIM switching should work if after 2 minutes when the 'Enable automatic switching' and 'No network' options are selected and the settings have been saved? Is there possible a way to check the save from the CLI or the logs?

Thank you.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.

From the screenshots, since you have chosen your SIM2 as a primary SIM card, in order to switch from SIM2 to SIM1, the No network option should be selected in the SIM2 To SIM1 tab.

To switch from the secondary SIM to primary again, you need to select option Switch back to primary SIM card after timeout and enter your preferred time interval.

For debugging purposes here are a couple of useful commands:

  • cat /etc/config/sim_switch - shows current sim switch config in CLI;
  • logread -f - shows log entries in real time to see what events are taking place and what errors/issues are detected.

Best regards,

Žygimantas

Hi Zygimantas, thank you for your response which is very useful.

Is SIM2 the primary SIM, should the 'No network' option only be selected in the SIM2 to SIM1 tab and not in the SIM1 to SIM2 tab?

Checking the RUT950 LTE User Manual, this did not appear to contain/show, the 'switch back to primasy SIM card' option/setting. Could you please indicate where this can be found please (as a search of the manual's text did not find this (screenshot attached)?

Thank you.

Hello,

Is SIM2 the primary SIM, should the 'No network' option only be selected in the SIM2 to SIM1 tab and not in the SIM1 to SIM2 tab?   Hello,

Yes, this is correct. If SIM2 is your primary SIM, No Network option should be selected in SIM2 to SIM1 tab.

Checking the RUT950 LTE User Manual, this did not appear to contain/show, the 'switch back to primary SIM card' option/setting.

If you have selected SIM2 as your primary SIM, the option should appear in SIM1 to SIM2 tab.

The option is visible in the SIM-auto-switch2.JPG screenshot you have attached.

Best regards,

Žygimantas
