Hi everyone,

I've provided an RUTX11 to a client. It is connected though RJ45 to a TP-LINK powerline adaptor kit : https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B00LM0XLFS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1

and also a cheap TP-LINK access point : https://www.amazon.fr/TP-Link-RE305-R%C3%A9p%C3%A9teur-Compatible-inatteignables/dp/B01MD1SKLL/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=extender%2Bwifi%2Bpuissant&qid=1654084391&s=computers&sprefix=extende%2Ccomputers%2C57&sr=1-5&th=1

The problem is this : The RUTX works perfectly fine but somehow, the whole nework gets disconnected from internet.

RUTX is reachable though RMS and shows active connection but it is somehow like either the powerline adaptors or the access point took over as "internet provider" for the whole network... Even though neither of them have Internet. :/

No one can access internet even when connected to RUTX wifi or RJ45.

Only way to solve it as of now is just unpluging everything an plug back the RUTX first then the other parts of the network.

I'm very new to teltonika and... well, network overwhole... The UI is very dense and I don't understand most of the things it can do but I'm eager to learn.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated !

Best,

Rob

Hello,

It is quite hard to understand what actually went wrong.

To start the troubleshoot process if you could provide the full topology of you network:

  • Devices
  • To which ports everything is connected
  • What IP addresses do the devices have
  • What parts connected to what work, and which don't
  • Any other useful information that could help up diagnose the issue
If you can, when everything is connected up, access router's WebUI, go to SYSTEM > ADMINISTRATION > TROUBLESHOOT section, download troubleshoot file from there and attach it to his post. The files are only seen to Teltonika engineers.

Thanks for getting back to me.

The topology of my network is as follow :

Gateway : RUTX11 (192.168.1.1)

Lan 1 : One wifi access point (IP provided by DHCP on gateway): https://www.amazon.fr/TP-Link-RE305-R%C3%A9p%C3%A9teur-Compatible-inatteignables/dp/B01MD1SKLL/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=extender%2Bwifi%2Bpuissant&qid=1654084391&s=computers&sprefix=extende%2Ccomputers%2C57&sr=1-5&th=1

Lan 2 : Powerline Adapter kit (IP provided by DHCP on gateway):  https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B00LM0XLFS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1

Lan 3 : Printer (192.168.1.50 not defined by gateway but demanded by the printer)

WAN : Empty

The RUTX emits it's own wifi.

I'll attache the troubleshooting file to the original post if I can.

Thanks for your help !

Hello,

After checking the device logs there are a few thing that are worth mentioning, however, it should not break down you network.

There are some error about mobile data limits, could you try and see if you have set up something in there, that might cause the disconnections is some weird way.

The device with MAC ending in ae:44 and bd:72 are very spammy and send out DHCP lease request every few seconds, this is also not optimal but should not bring down entire network.

Looking at everything else, these are no logs that would indicate anything else. Base config files look otherwise okay

Hello,

Thanks again for taking the time to help. I'm new at network admin. Kinda fell on my lap during covid and I'm actually looking for a good place to start learning more about it. I'm gonna be selling a lot of teltonika hardware in the near future and I'll have to know my way around it's software.

Could you tell me more about what's weird with my mobile data limits ? What I tried to do was having sim1 as main and sim2 as failover whenever I reach 200Go of data...

I'm not on site right now and I have no idea what kind of device ae:44 and bd:72 are...
