Hello,

I ordered a Visible.com SIM for unlimited Data. I activated the SIM in my phone and was able to make calls and use the data connection.  When I insert the SIM into the RUT955 I get the Green/Red light flashing next to the RSSI indicator telling me that no SIM has been inserted.

I know the RUT955 works.  I have a Limited Data SIM with Verizon that works fine. Visible.com runs off the Verizon network, and is a Verizon company.

Any thoughts?

EDIT: I've uploaded the troubleshoot file from the router.

Hello Jmcci,

For the device to work with Visible.com, it should have the supported bands and sim card not locked to a particular device.

Based on the Troubleshoot file, It seems that the problem is from the sim card itself.

Either the sim card is not registered or it requires to put the pin for authentication.

I am writing some suggestions to solve the issue:

1. Make sure the antenna is screwed properly and incorrect position.

2. You will need to configure the pin if you have one to the following setting:

Webui > Network > Mobile > Simcard Settings > Pin

https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT955_Mobile#SIM_card_settings

3. Try using the latest firmware  RUT9_R_00.07.02.1. You can download the latest firmware from the link below:

How would I find out the PIN for the SIM card? Do I need to contact the carrier for that?

I'm positive the SIM is active.  I can put it in my cell phone and make calls and browse the internet with it.

EDIT: I've spoken with my carrier. There should be no PIN on it.

Yes, you will need to contact your carrier to confirm the pin and also make sure that the sim is not locked to with particular device.

After you have confirmation from your carrier, try testing the device with the latest firmware.

RUT9_R_00.07.02.1. You can download the latest firmware from the link below:

Hello,

Try changing this setting Network -> Interfaces -> <Your_Mobile_Interface>:

  • PDP type: IPv4/IPv6.

You could also try a different APN:

  • APN: vsblinternet.

Hello,

There is an update to this issue.  I managed to get SIM 2 working. Fully connected and working as a hotspot.  I started to rebuild my VPN tunnel to my Sonicwall and when I had that configuration completed i rebooted the router.  After rebooting the modem wouldn't connect again.

I deleted the VPN settings.  Still wouldn't connect.  I defaulted the router. I configured it the same way as I had it when it connected and now the state shows "Unregistered N/A; 4g (LTE)" no matter what band I use.

EDIT: I managed to get to get it working again by DOWNGRADING the firmware to 6.06.1.  This FW version actually has a button to re-register the sim on the network.  As soon as I finished my config and hit the button it started working. I think the problem is in the newest FW for the RUT9xxx.

Hello,

You have an option to restart modem in case of no connectivity in latter firmware revisions in Status -> Network -> Mobile section.

You can also configure either modem reboot, mobile connection restart or request to reregister, in case there is no mobile data connection. The configuration menu is called Auto reboot -> Ping/Wget reboot and is accessible from the Services list in the device's WebUI. The following site provides more details: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT955_Auto_Reboot.

Best regards,
