Hi everybody,

I am using a RUT955 to reach an RTU device from a PRIVATE APN in 4G LTE. The device is connected to the LAN port of the router and I set port forwording in firewall from WAN to LAN in order to reach WebPage, IEC104 and SSH of the RTU device.

I have a directional antenna connected to this router. The problem is that the router is installed closed to TV antenna repeaters (many signal disturbances), therefore sometimes we have loss of connection. An obvious solution would be add a second SIM Card of a different mobile operator, but using a private APN I can not do that.

I would like to use a second RUT955 with anoter SIM Card and another type of antenna (non directional) as wan failur backup. Not sure it will work, but I want to test it.

I guess this should be the pattern:

RTU DEVICE  [WAN]  <--> [LAN] MAIN RUT955 [WIRED WAN] <--> [LAN] SECOND RUT955

                                                                       |                                                           |

                                                   [DIRECTIONAL ANTENNA]                 [NORMAL ANTENNA]

Any of you know exactly how to set the two routers in order to have this layout?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards.

Davide

Hello,

You can configure a second router to be used, when your main WAN connectivity is lost. You need to utilize VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol) functionality.

This website provides configuration details for RUT955: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUT955_VRRP.

In the following link is an example of VRRP configuration for a different device, however, it should work with RUT955 as well: https://wiki.teltonika-networks.com/view/RUTX11_VRRP_configuration.

Best regards,
