I have a lan network that hosts some sensors in 192.168 and I would like to send them out with an aliases address and then channel them into an openvpn tunnel. Pinging from headquarters to aliases works. The ping from 192.168 to the central office works but the source appears as a remote interface of the tunnel and therefore I cannot discriminate the sensors. I tried with SNAT converting 192.168 to 172.16 but nothing changes: the source always shows me the IP endpoint of the tunnel. Idea on how to resolve the matter?

Hi arboraso,

Something happened in your question that everything you wrote is kinda scrambled.

About your topology with the sensors, not sure exactly why you are trying to use SNAT, guess that maybe that's not what you are looking for.

In your case, i would give static lan IP's to each sensor, and push routes to them through the OpenVPN, so any client on this VPN would know the route to reach each sensor. You can read how to do this here.

Best regards.
