Hello,

Depending on the firmware:

  • Legacy firmware has a limit of 4 SSIDs;
  • Current RutOS allows to create 8, however, it is not recommended to go beyond 4 as the router will struggle with other functionalities, such as mobile connectivity, ability to support connected clients, etc., due to the limited processing power.

Best regards,

Perfect, thank you.

Will the 950 be more capable in that area, if so how many SSID will function well? Should have way more processing power.

RUT950 has only a slightly faster processor, thus significant improvement should not be expected. On the other hand, RUTX series devices do have more more cores and processing power and should work fine, however, the upper limit is still 8 SSIDs per frequency band. The difference is that RUTXs support 2.4 and 5GHz bands and testing creating 16 SSIDs on RUTX11 (8 for each band) resulted in approximately 30% CPU load.

Best regards,
