Is it possible to access SMB (SAMBA) FIle Sharing via Zerotier ?

1) Zorotier works fine on RUTX11

2) File Sharing (SMB) works fine on LAN

but when trying to connect via Zerotier I get the error: "The device or resource configuration (ZT 10.144.9.1) does not accept connections using the File and Printer Sharing (SMB) port."

Regards

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out!

Could you clarify if the SAMBA server is running on the RUTX11 or a separate PC?

Is the error received on Windows or somewhere in the logs?

As I understand this is the topology:

Is this correct?

Best regards,

The SAMBA server is running on RUTX11.

The hard drive is connected to the RUTX11 via USB.

When the PC is in the local network, access to the hard disk (Samba on RUTX11) works without problems.

When the same computer is disconnected from LAN (remote access) and connected via ZeroTier, it has access to RUTX11 (WEBGui, SSH, etc) and other LAN resources, but windows 10 does not see the hard drive connected to RUTX11 (SAMBA).

The topology is correct, but the SAMBA server is a RUTX11 server, not another PC.

Hello,

I've replicated your setup and this is indeed the case.

However, to solve it only one SAMBA configuration option needs to be changed:

bind interfaces only needs to be set to no, instead of yes:

This can be done by navigating to Services  USB Tools → Network Shares → General → Edit Template.

Hope this helps!
