Question

The RUTX11 (RUTX_R_00.07.02.7) had the core SIM1 card installed.

It was working on the active SIM 1 interface until it set it to "stopped" mode by itself.

Restarting the router and modem did not change the "stopped" mode setting.

After removing and inserting this card as a SIM 2 interface, the status is 'Running' and the connection is working.

Placing any sim card in the SIM1 slot does not change the MOB1S1A1 interface mode to "Running".

How to start this interface (MOB1S1A1) if modem reset, router reset, "gsmctl -A 'AT+COPS=0'" does not change anything?

To better understand the issue, a troubleshoot file would be useful. It can be generated by navigating to System → Administration → Troubleshoot and can be attached to your post. It will only be visible to Teltonika moderators.

Also, could you upgrade to the RUTX_R_00.07.03.3 using the bootloader method?

Hello,

After updating the firmware to RUTX_R_00.07.03.3, the MOB1S1A1(Up) interface is active again, but the second MOB1S2A1 interface is Down (the SIM2 card is still the same).

After removing the SIM1 card, both interfaces MOB1S1A1 and MOB1S2A1 are Down. Enable automatic switching SIM1 and SIM2 are ON. Default SIM1 is ON. 

How do I attach a Troubleshoot file to this message?

After reinserting SIM1 MOB1S1A1(Up) and MOB1S2A1(Down).

I need two working interfaces and switching between them if one of them fails.

As RUTX11 only has a single modem, both interfaces cannot be active at the same time. For failover, SIM Switch needs to be configured. This can be done by navigating to Network → Mobile → SIM Switch and configuring the rules for the main and backup SIM.  As the router cannot use both SIM cards at the same time, it cannot check if the first SIM card has regained the network connection, thus "Switch back to default SIM card after timeout" rule should be enabled for the backup SIM card.

If you'd like for both SIM cards to be active at the same time, RUTX12 is the device needed, as it has two Cat 6 modems.

Hope this clears up the failover functionality.

OK, thanks for the explanations.

There was no activated return time.

Two more questions?

1) Does the RUTX12 configuration allow automatic return to the main one, e.g. SIM1, when the GSM modem for SIM1 recovers the connection. Or, similarly to RUTX11, do you have to define the switching time and, as a result, lose GSM connectivity for this procedure?

2) Does RUT955 have one or two GSM modems?

Hello,

  

1. On RUTX12, there is no SIM Switch, and instead Failover function is used. So no timer is needed to determine which connection to use, only the metric needs to be set.
2. Unfortunately, RUTX12 is currently the only device that has two modems. However, a device like TRB140 (Ethernet) or TRM240 (USB) could be used as a secondary WAN connection to achieve the same. The only disadvantage would be that TRB140 offers Cat 4 LTE modem, and TRM240 offers Cat 1 LTE modem, so speeds would most likely be a bit lower.
