Hello we want to uprade RUTX09 from

RUTX_R_00.07.00 -> RUTX_R_00.07.03.3 Firmwareversion.

But we lost OpenVPN Data after the Upgrade:

  • username
  • password
  • certificate

How can we prevent this? Because we need to do the upgrade from remote.

Hello,

There is not much that can be done to prevent this.

There is a big gap between the firmware versions and it is simply not possible to migrate properly, maintaining your configuration.

The general rule of thumb is to perform firmware updates no more than two iterations in between firmwares, if the settings are to be kept (for example 7.00.0 -> 7.00.2) and update without keeping settings between major releases (for example 7.02.x -> 7.03.x).

You could try to generate a backup file from the current version, update without keeping the settings and try uploading it after update. Alternatively, after update you can try to copy relevant configuration files from the backup file and, using scp/WinSCP as instructed in this page, move them to the router. The directory with configuration files is /etc/config

Best regards,
