Question

With the RUT955 (FW 00.06.09.2) root and admin shared the same passwords. Is this different for RUT956 (FW 00.07.03.3)?

I changed the root password through SSH commands. With the RUT955 I can login as admin in the WEBUI with the set password. With the RUT956 the password for the admin user is still the default password.

In later firmwares root and admin users were separated.

When changing password in WebUI, the password is changed for both root and admin. 

If you want to change the password in terminal, when executing passwd command, you must give an argument of username (root or admin) e.x. passwd root and or passwd admin.
