Hello,

It is recommended to attach both antennas for optimal signal performance.

The main antenna is essential for establishing a working connection. The AUX antenna, while not directly used for data transmission, acts as a diversity antenna that helps improve signal quality and acts as a secondary receiving antenna in 4G. This improvement is achieved by providing error correction, which can enhance performance and offer better signal reception in areas with poor signal quality. You can take a look at our wiki page here.

Thanks! For testing, is it possible two use different kind of antennas for main and AUX?

Hi,

Theoretically you can. However, using two antennas with different gains does not guarantee improved connection quality. Each antenna connector serves a specific purpose. It is recommended to use the MAIN connector with the antenna that is most suitable for your environment. If the router is far from the transmitter, a directional high-gain antenna is recommended. If the transmitter is nearby, a low-gain omnidirectional antenna is suggested.

However, it's important to note that the effectiveness of these recommendations may vary depending on your specific environment. Therefore, it is advisable to try different combinations of antennas and observe which setup works best in your particular case.

You can also find information about the usage of third-party antennas on Teltonika devices here.
