Hello,

do Teltonika have done research if there are differences in IPSec performance and CPU load/Power comsumption when using AES-GCM vs. AES-CBC?

Which one is recommended if both are supported by the gateway RUTX connects to?

Thank you!

Best regards

S.K.

Hello,

While such tests are not available, the AES-GCM is newer than AES-CBC and should provide better performance in terms of throughput.

Generally, stronger encryption algorithms require more processing power and may slow down the encryption speed. For example, AES-128-CBC encryption algorithm may offer lower encryption strength compared to AES-256-CBC, but it can provide faster encryption speeds.

So the choice will depend on your needs.

Kind Regards,

Hello,

Thank you!

So did I get you right-AES-GCM at Teltonika side should result in better throughput than AES-CBC with same bit length?
