I have a phone/data sim inserted in the router and can connect tablets and phones to the router. when trying to connect the laptop it can see the wifi signal but there is a X through the wifi symbol and says cannot connect. I can use the router with my phone an then can connect the laptop via the phone hotspot but ideally want to connect direct to the router, any ideas?

thanks

Hello,

Usually, this symbol indicates, that there have been some changes to the wireless network (e.g. password or BSSID (MAC address) change). To overcome it, it is usually enough to forget the network on Windows, and then connect to it again.

If that does not help, I would recommend testing different authentification methods (e.g. WPA3-SAE), different ciphers, and different WiFi channels.
