I am trying to connect  TRM240 to a FritzBox router for 4g failover. However the router does not recognize the TRM240 as a mobile broadband device via AT commands. I have received the following from AVM support:

In the provided support file, we find that your Teltonika dongle does not reveal itself as a mobile broadband device:
<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]-->
<!--[endif]-->

04.06.21 09:54:37 A non-supported USB device has been connected.

04.06.21 09:54:37 USB device 1003, class "USB 2.0 (hi-speed) bulk", plugged in

04.06.21 09:54:13 USB device 1002 unplugged

According to the manufacturer's site, this dongle requires specific Windows drivers. We therefore doubt whether the FRITZ!Box can communicate with it with standard AT commands.

Is it possible to configure the TRM240 for this mode? Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure it's too late now, but that's what I've found.

Support for EC21 vendorId:2c7c productId:0121 has been added (more like 'registered with', but anyway) to 'option' (the kernel driver) with commit 6e9f44eaaef0df7b846e9316fa9ca72a02025d44 about 20170314.  That commit went with Linux 4.11-rc4 about 20170327.  I understand it was released with Linux 4.11 about 20170501.

If kernel at hands is older than 4.11 — too bad, too sad.  Any hands-off equipment can be upgraded to something more recent.  Unfortunately, option (of kernel) can't be made to work with arbitrary (but otherwise compatible) equipment – it doesn't have any useful options (no pan intented).

Hi,

This method didn't work?:

If your Fritz!Box doesn't see the modem connected through USB it just means that it doesn't have the drivers to detect it automatically.

I'm not sure how it's done on Fritz!Box, so it's really hard to give you information that would be correct.

My best suggestion would be looking for libraries, third-party applications or software for fritz!box to establish modem detection through USB.

For example, these instructions helped to give out the IP to Raspberry PI:
