Hi all,

I am using RUT240 which is running firmware "RUT2XX_R_00.01.14.3", the devices connected to the modem were offline for quite some time and it became online on its own with no intervention.

I checked the logs in "log.db" and it seems that in the connections table that it was logged many times "Network type: Unknown", what can be the reason behind having such a log? Does that mean that the modem was not connected at this time and that is why it was offline?

I also wonder if this is happening due to the old firmware that is running?

It worth noting that this issue happened in two consecutive day.

I have the same issue with "RUT240xAExxx" units....batch 99 and 100

Teltonika have used a different modem chipset in the series and are currently investigating probably notice NTP doesn't work too well either

Thanks for your response!

  • Do you have a thread here where you reported this issue and got a response from Teltonika? It would be great if you can share it with me.
  • I have just came across another thread were it was mentioned that configuration backups between different batches are not compatible, may be this can help you solve your issue. Basically by creating different configuration backup files for different batches: https://community.teltonika-networks.com/37748/differences-between-rut-batch-cant-upload-firmware-backup#q37748
  • Now if this is a fix, I wonder if there is command that I can run to get the batch of a device, will update the thread if I get new information.

So in case that might be helpful for someone else, the hardware information including batch number can be found in this file:

cat /etc/config/hwinfo

My issue is being dealt via an RMA request through my Dealer. Teltonnika has become involved from there. Hence no thread. The issues only involves RUT240xAExxx units, which looks to be a "stock gap" (maybe due to the chip shortage..?) All my fleet is RUT240x4xxx

I have a master Backup image that I purge too all my units. It so far has worked from batches 55 - 100. I do however have to make sure the FW is the same for the backup to take. So far, we haven't had any real issues. Again, I use RUT240's (RUT240x4xxx). Our fleet consists of 270 units.

Hi

Please, give us more information about what type of SIM card are you using, in what country, does the SIM use private or public IP?

Also, kindly share the troubleshoot file (System > Administration > Troubleshoot > Troubleshoot Settings > Troubleshoot file) and the backup file (System > Administration > Backup > Backup Archive). To share these files, you can edit the first post and attach them.

Finally, it is recommended to update the firmware to the latest legacy version RUT2XX_R_00.01.14.5 or the latest available firmware RUT2_R_00.07.01.4. You can download them on the following wiki pages.

Thanks for your reply!

After investigating in the issue,  I found out that it happened because the service operator were replacing the antennas with new ones.

After they finished their work, all went back to normal.
