Fw version : RUT9_R_00.07.01.4

Hello,

I used RUT950 since 2 years now with no problem. Since two days I have a problem with RUT950 that loose internet connection while 4G connexion is OK.

When I try to ping through CLI, it doesn't work :

 ---------------------------------

   Teltonika RUT9 series 2022

 ---------------------------------

root@Teltonika-RUT950:~# ping 8.8.8.8

PING 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8): 56 data bytes

ping: sendto: Operation not permitted

It is quite strange "operation not permitted", usualy there is timeout error or 'host unreachable' isn't it ?

It doesn't seem to be a DNS problem neither. I have check on my computer and the RUT950 configuration.

The only way to fix this problem, is to revert to revert to Factory settings or User's settings. Modem reboot or device reboot do not solve the problem.

I have proceed to a firwmare version update but the problem is still here, internet connection is lost randomly each day.

I can upload here a troubleshoot file if needed.

Regards

Julien

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.

I would like you to send me a troubleshoot file. Please, replicate the issue, then access router's WebUI, go to System -> Administration > Troubleshoot section and download troubleshoot file from there.

Best regards,

Žygimantas

Hello Žygimantas,

I have edit my message and add troubleshoot file. This files were generated before I proceed to firmware upgrade (I was in RUT9_R_00.07.01.2 ).

Hello,

The logs indicate a very poor RSRP parameter value, which is below the average disconnection threshold. This might be because of some network infrastructure changes or simply badly chosen router location. Try removing any possible obstacles near router, any metal objects, check antenna connector. If it does not help, you might try an external directional antenna. Otherwise a device with higher LTE category modem might be necessary.

Best regards,

Hello Žygimantas,

Thank you for diagnosis but i 'm sure this is the only reason :

As soon as I fix the issue, my download/upload performance are correct. (edit : see image in the link hereafter)

I already have a directive antenna ;-)

I have made a test :  I have tried to ping with antennas connected and without antennas. I do  not have "ping: sendto: Operation not permitted  "   message while antennas are not connected.

I suspect a right permissions issue that break routing/gateway between eth0 and wwan0 .

Check if any additional configurations do not create any firewall/iptables rules, which might be blocking your ping requests.

Hello Žygimantas,

Sorry for my very late answer, I was gone to vacation quite far from home.

My step daughter stayed at home had to revert RUT950 "user's configuration" every day because of the same issue (I give her instructions).

I have check firewall and iptables rules, they are empty (I do not use these functions).  I only use autoreboot (scheduled and timeout) and DHCP Static lease.

I'm trying to compare configuration before/after issue...

I still do not understand why I have "Operation not permitted "  on a ping request when the issue occurs...

HI again Žygimantas,

Just after my message, RUT950 has disconnect... So while checking scrupulously all parameter, I might find the issue : I had activate a "Mobile data limit" at 200 MB instead of 200 000 MB .

When I put 200 000 (MB) figure and save/apply, internet connexion has came back !

I will confirm in few days if I will no longer loose internet .

Hi,

After a week , no more disconnection, so I think that this misconfig about data limite was the problem.

Julien
