It seem that no matter what message I sent to the RUT240 the one it keeps sending back is the status of the device.

For example I'll ask it for "rms_status" it sends me back..

Router name - RUT240; WAN IP - 10.xx.xx.xxx; Data Connection state - Connected; Connection type - FDD LTE; Signal Strength - -75; New FW available - No;

If I ask for "iostatus" it sends me the above back.

I've checked the reply it should give me and they differ from the one it does give me. Why is this happening?

It has also been sending me the status messages every hour even though I have not requested it. It's exactly every 60 mins. See attached image.

Troubleshoot file also attached.

Thanks.

So if I send it anything like "Hello", it sends me the status back. The text doesn't appear in the Read Messages section either. I can send message to my phone from the RUT240 without issue.

I've done a full factory reset and it's still spamming me the status every hours! Please make it stop :(

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.

That is an interesting occurrence as the logs indicate that the router receives the same status message from Date == 2022-09-09 21:07:23.

Can you confirm that your phone is not sending anything?

Could you also send few different messages and provide screenshots with the response messages, as well as a new troubleshoot file to simply map the timestamps of router reactions. I would forward this data for the development team to investigate.

Best regards,

Hi, the phone isn't sending any messages that I am aware of. There is nothing in my sms to say otherwise.

I'll upload a new troubleshoot now and some new images, as requested

Hi, I've updated the files with new ones.

Thank you.

Could you provide more details, how did the issue begin?

Did you perform firmware update recently with Keep settings option enabled? Could you try reupdating with the option disabled?

by anonymous
We did perform an update recently.

How do I perform the update again? It's all OTA

I began by me sending it a message for a custom SMS rule which didn't work and so I've deleted it. It was basic and just to turn the output on.

Next I asked for the iostatus becasue the above wasn't working, again I received no reply. I've sent it a series of messages to try and get a reply and finally at some point I restarted the router.

I sent messgaes like, Hi, Test, Hello to see if they were getting though but I saw nothing in the 'Read Messages' section, so I tried sending a message to my phone and that worked fine..

@ 18:02 09/09 I sent it a reboot message which didn't work.

@ 21:07 09/09 I sent it a staus message which I got a reply from and then every single hour ever since.

If I send it any message (hello, test, iostatus, whatever) now for example it will send back a status message and then every hour following the time it sent it's last reponse to me +- 1min

The firmware update was carried out prior to a full factory reset, hoping that it would stop the messages

There appears to be a new release today, so I am updating with the keep settings off.

I will report back in a few hours.. :)
by anonymous
ok, I've just updated the FW with the version released today and then received the same SMS once it had finished updating.

I've attached a new troubleshoot file.

I've added a screenshot of the 'Read Messages' section......lots of messages all with the same timestamp
by anonymous
Your issue is forwarded to the RnD. It might take some time to investigate, but once there are updates, I will inform you.
by anonymous
Thank you for looking into this.

The message in the 'Read Messages' area is the command for the custom SMS command to turn on the output, the one that didn't work and was since deleted.

I have reinstated the custom command 'reset_esp' as a Send Status to see if it works. I've put a custom message in the reply. I'm going to leave it for an hour and see what happens...
by anonymous
I've just received my test message through without me messaging it.

New image attached.

I wonder what will happen next....
by anonymous
Received a new status message exactly 1hr after the last.....however it was followed by a iostatus message which is the first time I've received that message following me asking for it 3 days ago....

New image attached.

Could you try to disable those commands in SMS utilities section to see if the messages are still sent?

by anonymous
OK, I've disabled them. Watch this space!
by anonymous
It has stopped sending messages since switching off the following:-

Send Status

iostatus

Resest_esp (my own)

It's spamming me a new message I've not asked for now.. see new attached image.

Something is broken here guys.

Could you reset the device with the bootloader procedure, which is described here? Download this firmware file and upload it when performing firmware update via bootloader menu. Once the update finishes, upgrade to the latest firmware version.
